Quansheng made hardware changes between the UV-K5 Version 1 and Version 3, so the two KI6CR-LABS CW adaptors are not interchangeable. Here’s how to verify which version you have before you order.
Check the Label Under the Battery
Remove the battery from your radio and look at the label underneath it:
- Label marked V3 → You have a UV-K5 Version 3. Use the USB-C Adaptor.
- No V3 marking → You have a UV-K5 Version 1. Use the CEC Cable Adaptor.

UV-K1 Owners — Compatibility Testing Underway
The UV-K1 is not yet confirmed to work with either KI6CR-LABS CW adaptor — the USB-C Adaptor does not currently respond correctly when connected to a UV-K1. Brian (NR7Y) is actively investigating why. Please hold off on ordering an adaptor for the UV-K1 until compatibility is confirmed here.
